The Research Plan or Capsule Proposal (for groups who changed topic) is due on Friday, 29 July 2011 Monday, 01 August 2011. [Note: Ta-01 and Tr-04 deadline isSaturday, 30 July 2011]. The Feasibility Test Report is due on Friday, 12 Aug 2011. [STR 2 site]

Submit all your requirements on or before the deadline. If you submit after the
deadline, one of two grading schemes will be implemented:

1. Late = Zero: Requirements with a low grade component (for example, the ISEF
forms or the topic proposals, which are 5% of your grade) will automatically be
given zero points after the deadline.

2. Deduction According to Number of Days Late: For larger requirements, such as
the Research Plan, submitting the requirement (with decent content) within the
quarter will be given 40% of the highest possible score. The remaining 60% of
the requirement will be multiplied by the following factors, given the following
number of days late:

Days Late Factor If Your Score Were 100, you'd get... (if highest possible score
were 100 points)
0 100% 100
1 85% 91 (i.e. 40% of the requirement + 85% * 60)
2 75% 85
3 65% 79
4 55% 73
5 45% 67
6 35% 61
7 25% 55
8 15% 49
9+ 0% 40

Yearbook Payments and Collections

Hey 2012!
Let me remind you that the payments are due after next week (AUGUST 3)!
Please click this link to check if I received your payments. "Check to PTA" means that the PTA received your payment and not to me. (We have different bank accounts btw. The payments that are with them will be turned over to us at a later date, so I cannot issue you a receipt yet, if your parents are asking for it).

Edit: There are deposits in our account that are unaccounted for. If you deposited directly to the Batch  account and it's not indicated in the link, please send a hardcopy or softcopy of the deposit slip to me. This also applies to those who will deposit directly in the future. Thank you.

//Note: PHOTON and TRUTH, I notice that your record is relatively...empty. It's been more than 2 weeks now. I expect an improvement soon. Pleeeeaaase. :D

Also, it has come to my attention that a lot still have deficiencies with regards to the yearbook write-ups and pictures. Please click this updated link to check if you're missing something. If your name is typed in red, you're not cleared. The editors are currently working on the write-ups already, but you may still submit one (This is your last chance before they finalize everything). For the pictures, please complete them. I understand that many were not vain in the past years, so the last resort would be to use non-Pisay pictures (such as family pictures). Complete everything by August 7

For any inquiries on the payments, feel free to contact Kim Ednalino (09277959013/kim_ednalino@yahoo.com) or Lance Calub (09178955527).

For inquiries on the collections, contact Kim Ednalino, Dreia Carrillo (andreia_carrillo@yahoo.com.ph) and/or your respective collectors. Please submit to both me and your collector. If you really have no intention of supplying one (also for the write-up), please indicate it in your email.

HW on Resistance [the one in Sir Jemay's power point presentation]:

The electron beam emerging from a certain high-energy electron accelerator has a circular cross section of radius 1.00 mm. (a) The beam current is 8.00 μA. Find the current density in the beam, assuming that it is uniform throughout. (b) The speed of the electrons is so close to the speed of light that their speed can be taken as c = 3.00 x 108 m/s with negligible error. Find the electron density in the beam. (c) How long does it take for Avogadroʼs number of electrons to emerge from the accelerator?

An aluminum wire having a cross-sectional area of 4.00 x 10-6 m2 carries a current
of 5.00 A. Find the drift speed of the electrons in the wire. The density of aluminum
is 2700 kg/m3. Assume that one conduction electron is supplied by each atom.
Molar mass of Al is 27 g/mol.
Three wires A, B, C and D are made of the same material but of different lengths and radii. Wire A has length L but has radius R. Wire B has length 2L but with radius ½R. Wire C has length ½L but with radius 2R. Wire D has length ½L but with radius ½R. Rank with increasing resistance
A 0.900-V potential difference is maintained across a 1.50-m length of tungsten wire that has a cross-sectional area of 0.600 mm2. What is the current in the wire? resistivity of tungsten is 5.6 x 10-8 Ω-m
